Margie & family

Charley & I are proud to have worked 40 and 25 years for McCain Foods in Florenceville. We watched the children grow up and become part of the company.
Our hearts are very sad for all of you today. Thank you for the opportunity you provided us so close to home.

Many, many people have remembrances of Wallace. But perhaps not so many can recall, as I do, the day he and Margie were married. The beauty..the joy...the love they so obviously felt for one another...became the standard by which I judged all other weddings and marriages. To my 5-year-old eyes, they epitomized the "fairy-tale prince and princess".Through out the years they have remained an example and inspiration to us all. The "prince" has fallen, but his "princess" and his children carry on his legacy.May he rest in sweet peace.

Early in my 36 year McCain career, GWF, like his brother, gave opportunity, challenge, and inspiration to me to accomplish more than I realized I could. Wallace’s generous acknowledgement of success was coupled with his demand for performance and accountability. He embraced the team concept for success in business planning long before it came in vogue.
Wallace brought the world closer to Florenceville and even though he has been rarely here in the past few years, his presence with Margie gave comfort that things were still alright in the Saint John River Valley. Wallace’s home-grown humility and genuine interest in people is an uncommon trait among men of his stature and success.
Florenceville and the McCain family can take pride in the global reach of the McCain name and in seeing it throughout the world as I did 2 days ago on a colourful 18 wheeler billboard on a busy Russian street corner. What a legacy to leave!
Catherine and I wish to express sincere condolences to all of you and we will grieve the loss of a friend and a great Canadian.

Dear Wallace, Finally you left us to go to a much more peaceful place. We will miss you dearly but you will continue to be present by our side. You will definitely have a privileged place in our conversations. We will talk a lot about your business creativity and your ability to make a vision a reality. When I think of you, I always see your smiling face and I hear you giving me advise and encouragement. You were a great leader able to bring sunshine in the stormy business periods. I thank you for that.
One day or another, all of us will finally meet again. Please do me a favour, tell Harrison we count on you both to take care of McCain from where you are.

Michael and Scott, my thoughts and prayers are with you today....your father was an extraordinary man, and he will be missed by all, but by none more than you and the rest of your family. I am a believer that our loved ones never really leave us, and that your father will continue to watch over you - and try (likely in vain!) to keep you in line!

Our family was deeply saddened on your loss.
When I was very young ( 16 years old) my grandfather took very ill and had to be sent from the Bath Hospital to Halifax Hospital, and if it wasn't for your father we would never have gotten him there.
When your family found out the situation our famiy was in you volunteered your plane and transferred him to the hospital, no questions asked!
We were very gratiful and always will be!
Scott, Mike, Martha, Eleanor & Margie our thoughts and prayers are with you! Wallace was a remarkable Person!

I met Wallace just briefly as a young student at Mount Allison, and neighbour to Eleanor in Windsor House.

As a second year business student I was almost frightened at the thought of meeting such a mogul, and can still recall how warm, friendly (and NORMAL!) he was with me.

I was very sad to hear of his passing. It is never easy to lose a parent, but I hope there is some comfort in knowing how well liked and universally admired he was.

Our family is deeply saddened on the loss of Wallace. He touched the lives of many in the farming community.
I can recall countless times when Wallace would return home to Florenceville from an extended trip and he would comment on how the potato crops looked flying over them. He was always in touch with how the crops were doing and took a genuine interest on how things were progressing.
We were neighbours and good friends doing business from the beginning of McCain Foods.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Michael and Scott, although my Maple Leaf days are now some time ago, and my stay a relatively short 4 years, the interaction, experiences, and "rules of business" that I learned from your Dad have stayed with me and continued to serve me well throughout my career.
He was an exceptional man, your memories are many times mine, but I hope they will help you get through what is a difficult time. My sincere condolences to you, and a big thanks to your Dad.
